Practice Profile: Darren Azman focuses his practice on corporate restructurings, creditors' rights and distressed acquisitions. His clients include private equity sponsors, troubled companies and their boards of directors, secured lenders and other constituents in connection with in-court and out-of-court restructurings.

Mr. Azman has distinct restructuring experience in the fields of manufacturing, renewable energy, health care, technology, maritime and transportation, and cross-border restructurings, including insolvency proceedings in Brazil, Germany, Japan and Korea. He routinely litigates matters in U.S. Bankruptcy Courts and other venues.

Leadership, Pro Bono and Civic Work: Mr. Azman is committed to giving back to communities by contributing an average of 150 pro bono hours every year. His pro bono work is targeted toward helping immigrants obtain asylum or green cards and advising on various immigration-related matters.

Mr. Azman is a proud mentor for Student Sponsor Partners—an organization that provides low-income New York City students who face significant barriers to academic success with a college preparatory, private high school education. At SSP, Mr. Azman guides his mentees through their four-year high school journey, connecting often to help navigate personal, financial, and schooling matters to ensure they remain on the path to success. He is also an active member of UJA-Federation of New York's Bankruptcy and Reorganization Group. The organization is the world's largest local philanthropy and addresses issues that matter most to the Jewish community in New York.

During law school, Mr. Azman took a leave of absence to start a health care technology company in New York, which still exists today. His prior experience on the business side of emerging companies gives him a unique ability to provide clients with guidance on matters that directly impact business growth.
