What are some of your proudest recent achievements? I am so proud of our New York office and its recent move to Hudson Yards. As has been covered elsewhere, we are the first law firm to move to a hybrid open plan. I stepped into the partner-in-charge role just a few months before the move, as we faced the challenge of being one of the first law firms to move to Hudson Yards, a brand-new neighborhood, as well as adapting to a completely redesigned office. It has been an exciting time to lead the office. I am also very proud of the promotion of two of my mentees to partner in the last year, Adriana Lofaro Wirtz and Stephanie Gentile. It has been incredible to watch them mature as lawyers and come into the partnership.

What does it mean to be a leader? Leadership is really about serving others. Being a law firm leader means caring deeply about your people and their successes. Once you have that, everything else follows.

Name a lawyer or mentor whose leadership inspired you. I had the privilege and honor to serve as a law clerk to Magistrate Judge Steven Gold in the Eastern District of New York. He was the first person who showed me that leadership doesn't mean having a big, brash personality. Rather, real leadership is caring about your mission and being willing to be responsible.

How are the business and profession of law changing, and how should lawyers adapt for the future? I think accounting firms moving into the space traditionally occupied by law firms will be the biggest change in the profession. To compete, lawyers need to focus on high quality, customized legal advice, where their training allows them to excel.

What is the best advice for someone considering a career in law, or someone already in the profession who is seeking to make a greater impact? My best advice applies to anyone, no matter what stage of her or his career: Don't work for jerks. Anything else you can figure out along the way.
