Goodwin has added Romina Weiss as a partner in the firm's tax practice. Prior to joining, she was a partner at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.
Jason Rimland joins Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt as a partner in the firm's corporate practice. He was previously with Sidley Austin, Shearman & Sterling.
Morrison & Foerster has added Jay Gavigan as a partner in the firm's lending and financial transactions group.
Keith Costa has joined Drinker Biddle as a member in the firm's national corporate restructuring practice. He was formerly with Otterbourg P.C.
Mayer Brown has promoted three lawyers to partner and three to counsel in New York. The new partners are: Michelle Annunziata (Litigation & Dispute Resolution), Lucas Giardelli (tax transactions & consulting) and B. Clayton McCraw (intellectual property). The new counsel are: George Rudy (corporate & securities), Evan DeCresce (banking & finance) and Ryan Castillo (corporate & securities). The promotions are effective Jan. 1, 2020.
Steven Tishco has joined Ditchik and Ditchik as a partner. He was previously an associate at Marcus & Pollack.
New York Life has named Senior Vice President Sara Badler as chief compliance officer effective Jan. 1, 2020. She currently heads all compliance functions for New York Life Investments, and prior to that she served as chief investment counsel for New York Life.
Brien Wassner has joined Sidley Austin as a partner in the firm's global M&A and private equity practice. Prior to this, he was with the firm Sherman & Sterling where he was a partner in that firm's M&A practice.
Akerman has promoted Adrian Smith to partner. He is a member of the firm's corporate practice.
Merton Gollaher has joined Garfunkel Wild as a partner in the firm's health care & corporate groups. He joins from Wiggin and Dana, where he was chair of that firm's health care transactions practice group.
Carlton Fields has hired Chael Clark as an associate in the firm's property and casualty insurance practice.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
