The judges for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York held a special session of the court on Dec. 17 to dedicate the atrium in the lobby of the Alfonse M. D’Amato Courthouse in Central Islip to Judge Arthur Spatt.

Spatt, who was born in Brooklyn in 1925, was nominated by George H.W. Bush on Oct. 25, 1989 and was confirmed by the Senate on Nov. 21, 1989.  He assumed senior status on Dec. 1, 2004.
