The Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in Manhattan on Monday rejected a First Amendment challenge brought against a federal gun trafficking law by a man who was convicted after trying, twice, to transport various gun parts out of the country to Turkey.

The federal appellate court, in its decision, wrote that even if Sammy Smith had been successful with his claims against the law, that outcome wouldn’t have reversed his conviction.
