Saying her office will “fight for transparency so that donors’ goodwill isn’t preyed upon by opportunists,” New York Attorney General Letitia James has ordered the Black Lives Matter Foundation, which she says has no affiliation with the Black Lives Matter movement, to stop soliciting donations in New York state.

The California-based charitable organization, which reportedly has one paid employee and lists a UPS Store for its address, has generated controversy in recent weeks as news reports have revealed that it has raised large amounts of money from people who mistakenly thought it was affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement.
