A photograph of Chief Judge Janet DiFiore was found in the effects of an "anti-feminist" lawyer named as the primary suspect in a shooting that killed a federal judge's son and injured her husband, a state court spokesman confirmed Tuesday.

The FBI reports that attorney Roy Den Hollander is the primary suspect in an attack that killed the son of U.S. District Judge Esther Salas and wounded her husband. Den Hollander was found dead in New York from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot injury, the Associated Press reported.

DiFiore was contacted by the FBI on Monday and informed that her name and photograph were found in the effects of Den Hollander, said state court spokesman Lucian Chalfen.

He referred further questions to the FBI, including if Den Hollander had plans to target the chief judge.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says he's directed the New York State Police to provide security for the chief judge.

"The circumstances are very troubling," the Democrat said while talking to reporters on Tuesday.

Cuomo said they are in the midst of an investigation, but he did not disclose who was conducting the investigation.

Den Hollander's website quotes him as being an "anti-feminist lawyer." He and another attorney had filed a suit, that was pending before the federal judge, over the ability of women to register for the military draft. They were recently replaced by a new attorney for the plaintiffs.

Charles Toutant contributed to this report.
