In President Donald Trump’s latest effort to move ahead with legal objections to a New York County grand jury subpoena for his tax returns, his attorney William Consovoy of Consovoy McCarthy argued that Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. violated the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure when he filed a motion to dismiss Trump’s suit Aug. 3.

Trump sued Vance in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York last fall, arguing that presidents are immune from state prosecution, including grand jury investigations, while in office.
