Grand jury operations in New York City are restarting as the state's court system pushes forward with a gradual return to in-person proceedings, Chief Judge Janet DiFiore said in a video statement released Monday.

More than 8,000 people were summoned for service and the state court system expects to impanel 14 grand juries in the city, DiFiore reported.
