Democratic lawmakers have pushed to expand voting access ahead of the November general election and fix problems that cropped up during the state's chaotic June primary.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation Thursday expanding access to absentee voting as New York once again faces the challenge of conducting an election during the coronavirus pandemic.
"With COVID-19 threatening our ability to have safe, in-person voting, these measures are critical to ensuring a successful and fair election at one of the most important moments in our nation's history," the Democrat said in a statement.
