Prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York on Thursday recommended a life sentence for Keith Raniere, leader of the so-called “sex cult” NXIVM.

Arguing that Raniere has demonstrated a “complete lack of acceptance of responsibility” since he was found guilty of sex trafficking, forced labor conspiracy and other offenses in June 2019, prosecutors wrote that he has expressed contempt for his victims, prosecutors and U.S. District Senior Judge Nicholas Garaufis.
