Legal groups and advocates for prisoners on Tuesday pressed for New York to release more people from correctional facilities as worries persist about a feared second wave in the coronavirus pandemic.

Jails and prisons have been in the spotlight across the U.S. during the pandemic due to the nature of the facilities, where space to socially distance is often limited. The facilities have also faced concerns over not having enough soap for inmates.
