Attorneys for President Donald Trump on Thursday argued in court papers that the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office engaged in “misdirection” when it pointed to a series of public reports alleging financial misconduct by the Trump Organization, according to a reply brief filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Judges Robert Katzmann, Pierre Leval and Raymond Lohier Jr. are set to hear arguments Friday in the year-old lawsuit over a Manhattan grand jury’s subpoena for Trump’s financial records. In a 7-2 ruling in July, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected Trump’s argument that he is broadly immune from state criminal investigation but allowed him to bring more specific objections in the lower courts.
