Less than a week after the state Attorney General's Office filed a lawsuit against two popular gyms, New York Sports Clubs and Lucille Roberts, alleging they've been bilking members of fees during the coronavirus pandemic, a state Supreme Court justice issued a temporary restraining order against the gyms' corporate owner, though the order came via consent of the parties.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Debra James issued an order that temporarily stops the gyms from allegedly charging dues, fines or penalties to members who have tried to cancel their memberships since March 16, 2020, when the pandemic's tear through the New York metropolitan region led to Gov. Andrew Cuomo's shutdown of area businesses, according to the court order, issued last Friday, and a Monday news release from Attorney General Letitia James.
