One day before the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn is set to appear in federal court to argue for a preliminary injunction blocking Gov. Andrew Cuomo's executive order limiting religious gatherings in parts of the borough to 10 people, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the archbishop of New York, waded into the debate with a blog post.

Catholic churches in Brooklyn have been careful to keep parishioners socially distanced and have followed public health recommendations with success, Dolan argued, but the Brooklyn diocese has been "right to resist" Cuomo's latest order, signed last week in response to rising clusters of COVID-19 cases.
