Practice Profile: Duane Loft is a litigator in high-profile antitrust, bankruptcy, and other complex business disputes. He is currently bringing a landmark antitrust case against drug companies for raising prices on life-saving EpiPen devices. Last year, Mr. Loft was trial counsel for second-lien noteholders in LBI Media Inc.'s Chapter 11 confirmation trial in Delaware, successfully asserting claims that a transaction executed with senior creditors on the eve of bankruptcy was fraudulent.  And he is representing car parts manufacturer Prevent USA Corp in a lawsuit accusing Volkswagen of using its stranglehold over parts suppliers to stop acquisitions.

Leadership, Pro Bono and Civic Work: As a member of the New York City Bar Association's Civil Rights division, Mr. Loft authored an amicus brief in the landmark Second Circuit appeal challenging the Government's warrantless surveillance program. He has also handled several pro bono immigration matters, including a successful amnesty application for a Tibetan national fleeing persecution in China. And he led the initial work that resulted in Boies Schiller Flexner opening its London office.

What advice would you give to young lawyers? This is what David Boies always taught me: Find the simple truths that are going to sustain your case.  It's easy to tell an accurate story in a complicated way. It's also easy to tell a simple story that's not accurate. The challenge of a litigator is to be simple and very accurate at the same time.
