Practice Profile: Susannah Geltman represents clients in a wide range of high-stakes, complex litigation matters including securities, class action, and shareholder derivative litigations, as well as insurance and reinsurance coverage disputes. Her work involves the representation of corporations, financial institutions, private equity firms, insurers and reinsurers, as well as boards of directors, board committees and executives. She has extensive trial and arbitration experience and also advises clients in internal investigations.

Leadership, Pro Bono and Civic Work: Susannah is deeply committed to pro bono work. She  co-led the team that, with the ACLU and AIC, obtained a preliminary injunction blocking the federal government's new rule seeking to expand fast-track deportations without legal process. She also co-heads the trial team working alongside the NRDC in a long-running litigation involving mercury contamination of Maine's Penobscot River. Additionally, Susannah is the supervising partner in the defense of appeals of final orders of protection obtained by victims of domestic violence. She also filed an amicus brief on behalf of 15 organizations in the appeal of a family court's application of the New York Family Court Act in a child neglect case.

What advice would you give to young lawyers?

Young associates should seek opportunities across multiple practice areas. Building diverse experience by working with a variety of clients in different industries will enable them to provide well-rounded advice. They also get the benefit of working with lawyers who have different styles.
