Aiming to combat long lines at polling sites, the New York Civil Liberties Union sued the Rockland County Board of Elections on Thursday, seeking to lengthen early voting hours in the final days before Election Day.

The organization, which filed the lawsuit in state court, is representing individual voters and the Nyack and Spring Valley branches of the NAACP. The litigation is over long lines at early voting locations.

The lawsuit says people have had to wait hours to vote early this year, with reports that some people waited four hours to cast their in-person ballot.
