The Appellate Division, Second Department on Wednesday reversed a ruling by Westchester County Supreme Court Justice Gerald Loehr and dismissed defamation claims against Iona College, its general counsel and its outside counsel pursued by its former general counsel.

Plaintiff Kathleen Gill left her role as general counsel at the college to work as New Rochelle’s corporation counsel in 2015. After her departure, the college sued the city in an Article 78 proceeding, and Gill eventually filed her own suit alleging that defamatory statements were made about her amid that proceeding.
