A New York court system hiring freeze is projected to force the nonjudicial workforce to fall below 15,000 by April of next year, Chief Judge Janet DiFiore reported.
That projected staff size would be a 12% downturn compared to the system's 2009 employment levels, the chief judge said, offering a grim forecast as the court system navigates a pandemic-related budget cut.
