Newly released data from New York’s court system is giving a glimpse into where authorities are punishing people for having small amounts of marijuana.

The data only covers cases from November, but shows that Suffolk County is widely outpacing counties statewide in penalizing people for low quantities of marijuana. The Long Island county alone accounted for about 45% of cases statewide tied to a low-level marijuana statute.
