Attorneys and staff at the Office of the Appellate Defender on Thursday became the latest public defenders’ organization in New York City to unionize, announcing they intend to join the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys – UAW Local 2325.

The news comes less than a month after attorneys at the Queens Defenders announced they would unionize; negotiations at the Queens nonprofit are ongoing after management declined to voluntarily recognize the union.
