Progressive political and legal groups this week continued to ramp up their scrutiny of the candidates running to be Manhattan's next district attorney, with the People's Coalition for Manhattan DA Accountability and the 5 Boro Defenders each releasing assessments of the race.
Nearly all of the candidates are presenting themselves as more left-leaning alternatives to sitting District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. The incumbent's virtually nonexistent fundraising indicates he does not plan to run for reelection this year, although he has made no announcement.
