With coronavirus cases continuing to mount in New York’s prison system, a group of legal defense organizations are demanding the state deem prisoners eligible to receive vaccinations.

The legal organizations issued a letter to Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday and lambasted the state for providing “no plan whatsoever” for when prisoners will get a green light for vaccine shots. They called the state’s approach “inhumane” and said it is a “public policy failure.”
