The change will affect about 1,100 warrants, Gonzalez's office said, and an initial group of 262 warrants were vacated this week and their underlying cases were dismissed.

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez on Friday announced that he would move to vacate open bench warrants for people accused of prostitution and loitering for the purposes of prostitution, which advocates say is a step forward for sex workers' safety in the borough.
