Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez last week remembered assistant district attorney Brittany Heaney, who died suddenly Feb. 11 at 30, for her devotion to public service and warm smile.

Heaney was assigned to the Special Victims Bureau, where she “distinguished herself as hardworking, sensitive and exceedingly compassionate in her work with victims of these horrific crimes,” Gonzalez wrote in a letter to the staff of the office.
