China continued to be the leading location for non-U.S. issuers named as defendants in the lawsuits, the report said. More than half of the 88 non-U.S. issuer securities class action suits were filed in courts in the Second Circuit; the next most were filed in Third Circuit courts.

The year 2020 saw an increase over 2019 in the percentage share of securities class action lawsuits launched in the federal courts against non-U.S. issuer companies, with lawsuits targeting non-U.S. issuer entities accounting for 27% of the 324 securities class actions lodged last year, according to a new Dechert report.
