Fra Filippo Lippi was one of the pantheon of artists born in the early 1400s in Italy, a biological historical accident; BOOM, POW! The Renaissance.

Born about 1406-07 in Florence, around age eight, under unclear circumstances, Filippo was placed in the neighborhood monastery, Santa Maria del Carmine. He survived a plague in 1417, which was particularly virulent in the enclosed monastery (as COVID-19 is today in confined settings). He took his vows in 1421 and during the following 11 years he was identified as a friar in the Florentine Carmine monastery records.
