The president of the New York State Bar Association has commended the state court system’s move to allow ousted older judges to reapply for their positions.

Scott Karson, president of the bar association, issued a statement Wednesday saying the association expressed concerns over the weekend about the decision to cut 46 older judges from the bench due to a 10% budget cut from the governor’s administration.
