This year’s Mother’s Day was a special time for many families, as parents, grandparents and children who spent months apart were finally able to have time together in person.

But for others, it was a more solemn occasion. The pandemic took the lives of tens of thousands of New Yorkers, many of them mothers and grandmothers, and we are still mourning these losses.
