U.S. District Senior Judge Jack B. Weinstein of the Eastern District of New York, who was one of the most prolific and influential members of the New York federal bench over an extraordinarily lengthy tenure, died Tuesday at 99, the court confirmed.

Weinstein moved to inactive status in early 2020 after 53 years on the bench. He will be remembered for his work ethic, profound commitment to justice and his willingness to overlook convention in order to do what he thought was right in a case.
