Nineteen older judges who were ousted last year by high-level court officials have returned to the court system, marking the latest development in a bitter power struggle within New York’s judiciary.

The returning judges were pushed out of their posts months ago after Chief Judge Janet DiFiore and other court officials denied them what’s known as certification, which allows state judges to continue to serve on the bench after they reach 70 years old.
