A high-level administrative judge in New York’s court system is set to retire at the end of August.

Vito C. Caruso, the deputy chief administrative judge for courts outside New York City, is in charge of the day-to-day operations of trial-level courts in dozens of counties across the state. Those courts involve thousands of non-judicial workers and upward of 700 justices, according to the court system’s website.
