The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on Friday upheld more than $100,000 in sanctions against New York copyright attorney Richard Liebowitz, citing an “ignominious record of reprimands and sanctions from judges across the country.”

A three-judge panel of the Manhattan-based appeals court found that Liebowitz, who was suspended in December from practicing in the Southern District of New York for filing low-value cases on behalf of photographers, had acted in bad faith and “repeatedly lied” under oath in a lawsuit he filed on behalf of plaintiff Arthur Usherson.
