New York City Bar Association City Bar Calls On Lawyers Nationwide to Fight Back Against 'Suppressive' State Voter Laws
"As professionals pledged to uphold our state and federal Constitutions and the rule of law," the report says of lawyers across the nation, "we must not stand by as mere witnesses when the most fundamental principle of our democracy is undermined by representatives of any political party."

In a new 50-page report, the New York City Bar Association lists "waves" of recently passed state laws that it says will suppress voter rights, entreaties the U.S. Congress to enact broad federal election reform laws in response, and calls on lawyers nationwide to "speak loudly and to act effectively" and "not stand by as mere witnesses" as the state laws and related actions threaten America's democracy.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments.
