New York’s Democratic party chairman threw his support around Gov. Kathy Hochul on Monday as speculation escalated over if she might face a primary challenger for the executive post in next year’s gubernatorial election. 

The endorsement from Jay Jacobs, the state party chair who was a strong ally to ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo, comes as there are signs Attorney General Letitia James is herself mulling whether she will join the race.
