U.S. Magistrate Judge A. Kathleen Tomlinson of the Eastern District of New York died Sunday after a long battle with cancer, the district executive’s office confirmed Tuesday. She was 73.

Tomlinson was remembered for her warmth and kindness throughout her career, which included more than a decade of practicing law at Farrell Fritz before she was appointed to the bench in 2006.
