The website for the New York City Counsel to the Mayor’s office includes fun facts for each of its staffers. For Kapil Longani, who heads the office, his refers to an attempt to win an eating contest at a Diwali festival while he was in the 9th grade.
“I sprinted to the lead, downing six medium-sized, lukewarm samosas in about 4 minutes,” Longani recalled to the Law Journal. (All told he scarfed down a dozen of the fried treats in less than 30 minutes, but was ultimately bested by a competitor who downed 24).
