A veteran attorney of 43 years has been publicly censured by a state appellate court after facing five disciplinary charges, including two tied to the lawyer allegedly waiting almost six years to file a summons on his client's behalf in a contract-based action against Carnegie Hall, the famed Manhattan concert venue.

John P. DeMaio, who according to a LinkedIn profile and a law firm website runs a small corporate- and real estate-focused practice, has been publicly censured by the Appellate Division, First Department after he conditionally admitted, as part of his request for only a censure as punishment, to acts constituting the five charges, according to the First Department court's decision.
