Being a general counsel for a professional sports team is a coveted gig, but it's also a job with unique challenges, potential ethical minefields and scandals lurking around the front office, field, stadium and elsewhere. 

Sports GCs need to prove themselves as trusted advisers for their teams, while recognizing the dangers of getting chummy with owners and front office execs. They're also subject to more intense media scrutiny. And, often, they're the only lawyer in the room, which can be tough, especially if the organization is suffering from a locker room mentality or otherwise toxic culture.
