After a last-minute settlement removed another defendant from New York’s multidefendant opioid trial, jurors on Wednesday afternoon heard the first closing statement in the suit from an attorney who represents all but one of the remaining defendants in the suit.

Morgan Lewis partner Harvey Bartle, who represents Teva Pharmaceuticals and affiliated companies, argued that attorneys representing Suffolk County, Nassau County and the New York Attorney General’s Office failed to show that the defendant companies caused a public nuisance through their work with opioids.
