A Manhattan federal judge on Friday rejected a proposed $37,500 settlement agreement in an overtime wage dispute with two construction companies, finding that attorneys for the plaintiff had not adequately supported their request for fees.

U.S. District Judge Andrew L. Carter Jr. of the Southern District of New York said that solo practicioner Jacob Aronauer had not submitted any documentation to verify that their request for a $12,500 contingency fees was “fair and reasonable” in the context of the lawsuit, which was filed back in April.
