Adam Silvera, an Appellate Term, First Department justice who also has years of experience serving in trial-court jurist positions across the state system, on Tuesday was appointed administrative judge of the Civil Term of the Manhattan State Supreme Court.

Silvera, who was named to the position by state Chief Administrative Judge Lawrence Marks, will succeed Justice Deborah Kaplan in the role and will begin on Jan. 18, according to a news release from Marks and the court system. Kaplan was appointed in October as deputy chief administrative judge for the New York City Courts, and also has been serving as administrative judge for the Manhattan State Supreme Court, Civil Term—taking on dual roles—since that time.
