Robinson+Cole Acquires Lobbying and Government Affairs Group, The Roffe Group
And other announcements of recent hirings and promotions of New York attorneys.

- Robinson+Cole has acquired a lobbying and government affairs group, The Roffe Group. The new entity will be called The Roffe Group of Robinson+Cole and will continue to be headed by Andrew Roffe, who has been a Robinson+Cole partner since 2002. The Connecticut-founded firm said the group addition is a continuation of the firm's efforts to expand its footprint in New York state government and regulatory representation. The Roffe team includes managing director, Christine Rutigliano; director of government relations, Patrick Zlogar; director of policy and regulatory affairs, Alexandra Moore; director of legislative affairs, Caley Taratus and office administrator, Allison Sheedy.
- Seward & Kissel has promoted Daniel Bresler and Nicholas Miller to partner. The firm has also promoted Jay Baroody, Kurt Plankl, Dora Pulido, Filana Silberberg, and Steven Starr to counsel.
- Vanessa Schoenthaler has joined Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr as a partner in the firm's corporate practice. She was formerly a partner at Sugar Felsenthal Grais & Helsinger.
- Debevoise & Plimpton has named partner Marilyn Lion as co-chair of the firm's insurance group. She will lead the group alongside co-chair Nicholas Potter. John Vasily, who had served as co-chair for ten years, will continue as a senior partner in the group.
- Pasich LLP has elected Jeffrey Schulman as managing partner of the firm's New York office which has recently moved to Madison Avenue, near Bryant Park. In addition, the firm has elevated Nathan Davis, Jacquelyn Mohr Heitman, and Christopher Pasich to partner.
- Wiggin and Dana has elected two new partners in New York, Nathan Denning and Michael Kenny, and two lateral partners, Jonathan Golub and Kristina Wesch.
- Hinshaw & Culbertson has elected Dana Briganti and Brent Reitter as partners in the firm's New York office.
- Carmen Pagan has joined Romer Debbas as partner. She will lead the firm's agency lending practice. She was most recently of counsel at Blank Rome.
- Schlam Stone & Dolan has added Bradley Simon as a member of the firm's litigation team. He is a former assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York and trial attorney with the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. Immediately prior to joining Schlam & Stone, he was a partner at Windels Max Lane & Mittendorf.
- Randy Zelin, former counsel at Wilk Auslander, has opened his own practice, Randy Scott Zelin P.C.
- Matthew Gurgel has been promoted to partner at Holwell Shuster & Goldberg.
- Day Pitney has promoted Kritika Bharadwaj to partner in the firm's New York office.
- Davis+Gilbert has added trusts and estates lawyer Herbert Nass as a partner in the firm's private client services practice. He will co-chair the practice alongside the current practice chair, Alan Kroll. He joins from Herbert E. Nass & Associates, which he founded in 1990. His team, including senior attorney Kira Polner and associate Justin Goldberg have also joined.
- Alston & Bird has elected Steve Penaro and Joe Tully to partner in the firm's New York office.
- Goldberg Segalla has added associate Maria Dyson to the firm's commercial litigation and arbitration group in Albany. She was previously with The Law Offices of Frederick Brewington in Hempstead. The firm has also added Taylor Procopio as an associate to its management and professional liability group in Syracuse. She was previously with Nave Law Firm.
- Christina Preminger has joined Blank Rome as an associate in the firm's real estate group. She joins from Quinn McCabe.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
