A client of personal injury lawyer Benedict Morelli, who, with Morelli’s counsel, secured what may be the largest-ever pain-and-suffering amount in state history, is countersuing Morelli for $5.5 million in what he argues are settlement funds the attorney is withholding from him.

Morelli, the high-profile plaintiffs lawyer known in New York and nationally, argued in court papers that the $5.5 million constitutes attorney fees he should be paid.
