Edward Imperatore, a former Manhattan federal prosecutor whose cases included a criminal matter against General Motors over a deadly ignition-switch defect that resulted in $900 million owed by the manufacturer, has joined Morrison & Foerster as a partner in its white-collar defense group.

Imperatore is one of seven alumni of federal law enforcement offices that Morrison & Foerster has snagged up within the past year, each providing services in the firm’s Investigations + White Collar Defense Group, as well as other practice areas, according to a firm news release.
