Attorneys for a cannabis company locked in a contested acquisition deal are requesting production of correspondence with Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office regarding the state’s approval of an ownership transfer that was announced just days after the governor met with an executive at a fundraiser. 

New York-based cannabis company Ascend Wellness last year brokered a deal to acquire fellow pot producer MedMen, a financially distressed operation that possesses one of the state’s 10 coveted medical marijuana operators licenses, according to a complaint that Ascend filed in Manhattan’s Commercial Division.
