A Capital Region town justice who was sued under the Child Victims Act for allegedly offering his son’s minor girlfriend money and gifts in exchange for sexual favors, as well as enticing her to have intercourse with his son, has resigned, the state’s judicial watchdog announced.

Ancram Town Court Justice George Wittlinger, an 87-year-old jurist who has been on the bench for more than two decades, tendered his resignation in December while the State Commission on Judicial Conduct (SCJC) was undergoing an investigation into the claims contained in the now-dismissed civil suit.
