Lawyers for Sarah Palin are expected to file a motion seeking to disqualify U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff from the former Alaska governor’s defamation case against The New York Times, after jurors learned that the case had been rejected due to a legal ruling announced while they were deliberating.

The planned move comes amid Palin’s push for a new trial in the wake of Rakoff’s unusual decision last week to publicly rule against her before the panel had reached a verdict. Several jurors later told the court that they received push notifications informing them of the judge’s ruling, but said the news did not affect their deliberations.
