Former NYC Housing Czar Louise Carroll Joins Katten as Partner
And other announcements of recent hirings and promotions of New York attorneys.

- Former New York City Housing Preservation and Development Commissioner Louise Carroll has joined Katten Muchin Rosenman as a partner in the firm's real estate practice, effective March 1. Carroll helped design and implement the city's Mandatory Inclusionary Housing program requiring that permanently affordable housing be part of residential rezoning. The program has delivered nearly a quarter-million affordable housing units in the city's 59 community districts.
- International arbitration lawyer Samaa Haridi has joined King & Spalding as a partner in the firm's trial and global disputes practice group. She joins from Hogan Lovells where she led that firm's Middle East practice.
- Brian Daughney and Michael Kaufman have joined Warshaw Burstein as partners in the firm's corporate and securities and tax groups, respectively. Daughney was previously a partner at Becker & Poliakoff. Kaufman was previously a partner at Moses & Singer.
- Sahn Ward Braff Koblenz has merged with Weinstein, Kaplan & Cohen, P.C. The firm will continue to practice as Sahn Ward Braff Koblenz PLLC.
- Adrienne Ellman has joined Hogan Lovells as a partner in the firm's corporate & finance practice group in its mergers & acquisitions and private equity practices. She joins from Foley Hoag where she co-chaired that firm's mergers & acquisitions and private equity transactions group and served as co-lead partner of the New York office.
- Kane Kessler has named Peter Herman and Jonathan Zalkin as partners in its corporate and securities group. They were both previously counsel at the firm.
- Diane Rosen has joined Herrick, Feinstein as counsel in the firm's real estate department. She was formerly counsel at Ortoli Rosenstadt.
- Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton has promoted 24 attorneys to partner nationally. The New York based partners are Robert Gorzelany, Sean Kirby, Aaron Levy and Danielle Vrabie.
- Mound Cotton has elevated Jodi Tesser and Jared Markowitz to partners.
- Tim Santoli has joined Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo as a member in the firm's tax practice. Prior to joining, he was a partner in the taxation practice at Dentons.
- Goldberg Segalla has added partner Kris Lawrence to the firm's civil litigation and trial group in Buffalo. Lawrence was previously with the Mura Law Group, also in Buffalo.
- Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone has added Laura Brancato as a partner in the firm's elder law litigation practice group.
- Smith Entertainment Law Group has added entertainment attorney Henry Root along with the team of Lynn Quarterman, Leigh Zeichick and Michael Olsen. They join from Lapidus, Root & Sacharow.
- Bressler, Amery & Ross has named Thomas Roberts as its office managing principal of the firm's New York Office. Roberts succeeds Mark Knoll, who transitioned from private practice after more than a decade of service with Bressler.
- Nicholas Richard has joined Cozen O'Connor as a member in its real estate practice group. He was formerly with Stroock & Stroock & Lavan.
- DiCello Levitt Gutzler has added six litigators to its antitrust and competition practice: Gregory Asciolla, Karin Garvey, Robin van der Meulen, and Matthew Perez as partners, and Veronica Bosco and Jonathan Crevier as associates. They will join the firm effective March 7. They were all formerly with Labaton Sucharow.
- Akerman has appointed Beau Baker and Samuel Zylberberg as co-chairs of the firm's real estate finance practice.
- K&L Gates has added Keri Riemer as of counsel to its asset management and investment funds. She was previously with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where she served as senior counsel in the division of investment management's chief counsel's office.
- National civil defense firm Tyson & Mendes has added a team of five trial attorneys to its offices in the tri-state area. The New York-based team is led by partners Randy Faust and Kristina Milone. Faust will take charge as managing partner of the firm's New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut offices.
- Sarita Kedia has joined Abrams Fensterman as partner and chair to lead their criminal defense and government investigations practice group. Immediately prior to joining the firm, she headed her own practice for more than a decade.
- Seward & Kissel has hired Camille Paulus as counsel in the firm's real estate group. She joins from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
- Wolf Greenfield has added Blaine Hackman as counsel for its post-grant proceedings team. Previously, he was an associate for Dechert as part of that firm's life sciences patent group.
- Blank Rome has added Kaitlyn West as an associate in the firm's real estate group. She joins from Cassin & Cassin.
- Scott Wenzel has joined Yankwitt as an associate. He joins from Latham & Watkins.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
